activated and during use.It is now 3 months later and 1 of the units has stopped working--it clicks but does not heat the water.Installed by professional plumber with dedicated 208 volt circuits.I was sucked in to the ease of installation and small footprint only to regret it.Quite expensive when you actually see the build quality in person
