I had received the item in a timely fashion and was happy with how smooth the transaction was.I can't blame Amazon or it's immediate Vendor for this, but when I had received the product, it was missing an important item.I must go to the Manufacturer to order the replacement piece. It's not that expensive, but it has delayed me being able to install the product.

Quakehold! E25 80-Gallon Water Heater Strap
I purchased and installed this kit for my daughter's gas water heater who lives in TN, a state which required her new water heater to to be installed on a metal stand, but amazingly did not require it to be strapped. However, given the inherent danger of a very heavy gas water heater teetering on a rather flimsy metal platform which could fall over and cause a gas leak inside the garage, adding the straps to prevent that seems like a "no-brainer". I chose this kit because the straps completely encircle the water heater and securely attach to the wall studs.Installation was straighforward and the end result looks neat and sturdy, and gives me peace of mind for my daughter's family's safety.

I would have given this electric water heater 5 full stars except for one small problem.Apparently, the earlier models have a defective air check valve on the cold water input (outside/above) which leak (water).I have installed two of these: one in 2001 and the other in 2008.The 2008 installation has the new version of the check valve. It is brass, about 2" long, has air holes in the SIDES and not the end.IF YOU HAVE A MODEL THAT HAS THE OPENING/SCREEN AT THE END OF THE AIR CHECK VALVE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CONTACT RHEEM/MARATHON AND THEY WILL SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT OF THE NEW MODEL FOR FREE INCLUDING SHIPPING BEFORE IT BLOWS!Our 2001 air check valve failed which caused water and carpet damage. We purchased this model because it is not supposed to fail... Rheem customer service was great despite the opposite I have read on the web. This heater has a 6 year warranty on parts and the tank is lifetime.Even though the air check valve was 2 years out of warranty, they replaced it via Fed-x overnight at NO COST.I mentioned the ruined carpet to them, and they began a claim. All things considered, I am pleased with this.My plumber does not like anything with poly tanks, so I checked the web for recalls, class action lawsuits, etc., on this and found none.I am the only person I know of to mention the check valve problem above anywhere. They were so quick and friendly to replace the part, that I believe they know about it...

NR-240A NG NAVIEN TANKLESS W/CIRC PUMP AND BUFFER TANK
Average Reviews:

After two years, my Navien "A" model quit completely due to a design flaw. The company replaced it with a new model, but I'm out of pocket on additional labor costs to the tune of a thousand bucks. Also, I had spent extra for the recirculation model, only to find out it doesn't work in big houses. Navien produces an inferior product and its service back-up is bad. Only one company in our region installs and services Navien. They told me they are seriously considering dropping Navien due to its many problems and consequent repeat service calls.

Product Description:
With this Navien, you get a 98% efficiency heater, recirculating pump, buffer tank and leak detector. You can vent with PVC pipe due to the low exhaust temperatures, this saves you the cost of stainless steel venting pipe. Comes with remote control. 11 gallons per minute water flow at a 45?F rise. For commercial applications link up to 99 units together.
Navien: Energy-Efficient Water HeaterNavien's line of tankless water heaters relies on super-efficient condensing gas burners to create an endless supply of domestic hot water. Because condensing burners extract 98 percent of the heat from the gas flame, operating costs are less than one-half of an average tankless water heater and one-third of traditional tank heaters. And the exhaust is so cool, heaters can be vented with plastic pipe. The Model A shown has a miniature buffer tank to keep the hot water coming even when the flow is reduced to a trickle. The largest models have maximum flow rates of 11 gallons per minute in warm climates, 6 gpm in cold climates.

***See Update Below***
The unit works well. Was easily installed. Water heat is fine for our small-demand house (2bed/2bath/1500SF). The only thing that takes some getting used to is the minimum flow requirement. There's no way to get any hot water without turning a given fauct on at over 50% capacity. And single-knob showers can get a little tricky to balance.
NOTEZ BIEN:
Before installing, verify that your grid tie-in is sufficient. My panel is 200A, but the utility company tied in with a wire only capable of carrying 100A. This was fine for my house until this unit was installed. It requires 3@40A breakers, which was no problem...plenty of room on the board. But now, whenever the hot water flows, the lights throughout the house start a pulsing. I've called my retail provider, my utilities service provider, and the service director several times over the last 2 weeks, and can't get anyone to get out here and run thicker copper. It's not too annoying, but I'm concerned that the wire's going to fry if they don't get their act together and figure out whose job it is to fix this.
****Update****
Even with the electrical issues taken care of, the unit I bought, which worked well for several months, started acting up on me. Intermittent hot/lukewarm was a major issue. No flow problems: was running a shower alone. After some time, I opened the box and noticed that the unit had a leak in one of the 3 "coils" (tubes, really). I called the manufacturer, they verified the warranty info, and sent me a new unit. The new unit worked for about 6 months before it also stopped providing hot water. Not sure how I ended up with 2 dogs, but that was enough. No leaking the second time around, but I gave up and went with a regular tank, as the house was by then a rental.
I'd drop it to one star if it wasn't for the great customer service I received.

I purchase this product from DIYcontrols a few weeks ago. The product comes with an on line installation guide and video for the product that are very helpful. When I had additional questions that the plumber needed to know prior to installation, DIYcontrols responded rapidly. For my particular water heater the copper pipes are soldered together and attach to the heater, which meant that I needed to buy a union, as well as male and female ends that could be connected to the devise and soldered to the existing pipe.
The first device arrived defective and the valve would not close; unfortunately, I already had a plumber at the house to install the device and DIYcontrols does not have effective weekend support, so I had the plumber leave. The following Monday Scott Walker from ONSITE PRO, the manufactor of the device, called me to find out what happened and was very appologetic and said that he would send me out a new one ASAP, which he did.
The new device worked exactly as advertised and the plumber was able to install it in a little over an hour without any difficulty.
I would rate the custer service at ONSITE Pro and integrity of their workers as outstanding.
In regard to the device, I recommend to plug it in prior to having a plumber come by the ensure it is functioning correctly; however, from most of the other reviews from other sites the valve sticking does not appear to be a normal issue so it shouldn't be a worry. If you are afraid of the valve sticking, either in the open or closed position due to the motor malfunction, there is a manual override so that the valve can be opened.
My plumber was impressed at the quality of the product and I think that having it is a great idea to prevent costly water damage.

Bosch 125B-NG AquaStar Natural Gas Tankless Water Heater Review

Bosch 125B-NG AquaStar Natural Gas Tankless Water Heater
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, looks like my prior review on 4/22 has been deleted.I highly suspect that the complainers here, or one of them, "reported" me because I referred to their reviews and that probably violated policy, yada yada yada.

Ain't it the way of the world?Wonder how long this one will last.

In any event, if you are at all interested in the AquaStar, just listen to the positive reviewers, hook it up properly, and you'll be very happy with it I'm sure.

I suspect that the most common problems folks have are twofold:

1)They probably don't use the required 3/4" gas supply pipe and try to get by with the old 1/2" pipe that supplied their old tank-type hot water heater. Most 30-40 gallon tank types have a BTU input specification of 40,000 BTU's.The 1/2" supply line is adequate for that number of BTU's, but the AquaStar requires 117,000 BTU's and that's three (3) times as much. Thus you DO need to use the 3/4" supply line or you're just not feeding the thing enough fuel.

Don't give it enough gas to burn and what do you think is going to happen?

2)A lot of folks might try to get by with the old 3" vent pipe their old heater used.Again, that's not going to work. You NEED to vent the AquaStar with the proper-sized vent pipe or it's not going to breathe properly and thus not going to work properly.

Other than that, there's not much to worry about with the installation of this unit.

Install it properly and it will perform well for you and meet your expectations fully for many, many years to come.

Also, as I noted in my amended review previously -- now deleted of course -- this model here has changed from when I bought mine a few years ago. This new 125B has a standing pilot. If you want one like my old 125B, you now need to get the Model 125HX, which has the electronic ignition, as does mine. The difference between mine and that one is that mine uses 2 D-cell batteries, whereas the 125HX uses a water-powered turbine to supply the necessary electical power to fire the unit.Neato.

Also note (as I mentioned previously) that the former manufacturer, CONTROLLED ENERGY CORP., has been acquired and thus is no longer the current manufacturer.Try going to their former website and see for yourself.

I doubt this has compromised the quality or service, but it's something you should know.

If you are planning to purchase a Seisco Tankless Water Heater, you might just prefer just to flush your cash down the toilet. We have had one for just over a year and have had trouble 3 times. When you need parts, plan on paying for them and paying for shipping. There is not much of a warranty and customer service is very kind but ineffective. nuvoH2O Home Salt-Free Water Softener System (Standard) Review

nuvoH2O Home Salt-Free Water Softener System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of Amazon's review guidelines is to "write about anything that the prospective buyer would like to know before making their buying decision."I'm writing this review to share the results of my extensive investigation regarding salt-free water softeners, how I ended up looking at the NuvoH2O WH2100, and why I decided not to buy it.

I was looking for a non-salt means to eliminate water spotting on dishes, shower doors, my car, etc.I decided to apply a good deal of buyer beware diligence in selecting a product, because my on-line research revealed that:

1. There are substantiated reports that favorable product reviews on the Internet are being submitted by friends, family members and employees of the company selling the product.

2. Some money back warranties (company lingo: "wait until your old pipes clear, to see if the system is working for you") don't kick in until after the drop dead date when your credit card company will tell you "you're out of luck at ever seeing your money again."

3. You can never initially trust who is at the other end of the Internet wire, and if something does go awry - you don't have much recourse.Example: there are many blogs with no-salt water conditioning complaints by purchasers that were given canned excuses of why the company's money back warranty didn't apply to them. I first looked at and ruled out those electron/magnetron water zapping devices that clamp or wrap around your water pipe.Every manufacturer I looked at appeared to have a gaping hole in their theory of operation, installation requirements, or money back warranty.

I then looked at several of those large tank "media" systems and noted that a growing number of those manufacturers have stopped calling their systems salt-free water softeners and are now calling them water conditioners; presumably because of threat of litigation. As rationalized by water treatment experts, the media technology appears to be nothing more than an overly large and expensive water filter (a bigger version of the Brita that attaches to the end of your faucet). The water supply throughout your house has the potential for "tastes great", but hard water deposits and spotting are still a concern.

So, this had me believe that my best choice was the "chelation" process of the NuvoH2O WH2100.

I found several Internet references that the chelation process touted by Nuvo may be the addition of citric acid to the water supply. Some detergents are chelated with citric acid to make them work better in the presence of calcium. So, this may be why Nuvo claims "you'll use less soap" and why the non-filtering cartridge needs to be replaced every 6 months - it's being flushed clean of the acid. However, my quest was mitigating water spots - not less soap usage.

I called Nuvo and cross-questioned them about water spots.Their response: "Well no; our device won't eliminate water spots, but it will make it easier to wipe them off."While I do applaud them for being candid, here's how I think they were expecting this claim to be tested.Allow a drinking glass to air dry for an hour.Wipe off the spots.Easy, right?!Well yes, but this would also be easy prior to installing the so-called Water Softener System. The problem with water spots is when they're allowed to dry and accumulate over days and weeks.

Because of all of my findings above and my decision to apply purchasing diligence, I proposed the following scenario to NuvoH2O:

1. Sell me the WH2100 at their cost (thus no financial investment on their part).

2. Allow me to test if the WH2100 Salt-Free Water Softener System met my minimal expectations (which was to perform something akin to a traditional water softener system).

3. If it did, I'd then send them the full retail funds for the WH2100 (the investigative seed money from #1 above would be extra profit for them). I included rationale as to why they could trust me.

4. I'd also give them a very cogent and credible review on Amazon (without mentioning my unique purchasing exception).I have a long trail of "real life experience" reviews on Amazon which would strongly suggest that my review wasn't a fake (note: except for a guy that also reviewed a book, all the other reviewers for NuvoH2O are one-time reviewers, as of 12/20/09).

5. But if the WH2100 didn't meet my minimal expectations, then I'd return the device to them and pay the shipping. They could keep the "seed" money that I had already paid.

Because of the "creativeness" of my proposal, I was ready to accept responses such as "sorry, but our accounting system won't allow us to do that" or "thanks, but we think our reviews on Amazon are already convincing enough." However, the response I got surprised me!

Nuvo's company owner rejected my proposal on the grounds that "he needed to make a profit."This particular response left me questioning the WH2100's place as a true water softener, as the only scenario path where he wouldn't be making a handsome profit was if my issue with hard, accumulated water spots wasn't addressed.I would return the product, but unlike all their other customers, Nuvo wouldn't be in control of my $600.

Conclusions:
1. All my research indicates that if you're looking for the "less soap" aspects of a traditional water softener, then the NuvoH2O products are a good choice.

2. If your primary desire is to have a solution for hard water deposits and/or spotting, devise and conduct a "meets my expectations" test soon after you receive the unit, and take all steps necessary to ensure that you can collect on the money back warranty.

Note: This review has been based on verifiable facts, except where I've used equivocal terms such as "may"; which are speculations on my part.If proven wrong, I'll update this review.

Product Description:
Some call it evolution. We call it innovation! The days of giant, salt-based water softeners roaming the earth are over. Welcome to a new era, the nuvoH2O era. So remarkable you need to see it to believe it.The nuvoH2O system uses patent pending technology to soften hard water based on the basic scientific process of chelation in which the metal ions causing hard water, principally calcium and magnesium, are bound to the chelating agent in nuvoH2O's FDA-approved, proprietary formulation, which keeps the minerals soluble and unable to cause hard water problems. The resulting water is soft and healthy for all of your household uses, including drinking, bathing, washing, and lawn and plant watering.Developed from nearly 30 years of commercial experience, this amazing, compact system uses an eco-friendly process to condition all the water throughout your entire home.# Designed for homes between 1,100 square feet and 2,500 square feet# Water flow: 12-15 gpm with 1" ports (no change to existing flow)# Capacity: about 50,000 gallons (average annual water usage of household of 4 every 6 months).

We replaced an electric 30 gallon hot water tank for this natural gas unit. The obvious difference, a mild reduction in hot water pressure. As for hot water temperatures, very comparable.I would say its not scalding hot out of the tap, but steamy. Not bad, given its winter in New England.Electric units are out of the question, the power requirements needed to raise the water temperature put them beyond the capacity of most homes in this climate. Our consumption is moderate, just two in the household. Can two use the hot water at the same time? Yes, the hot water pressure will again be reduced, but not uncomfortable for the one in the shower. One important note, the household uses half-inch plumbing, while the city water feed comes in on a three-quarters-inch pipe; larger pipe capacity could be a factor to consider.Electrical savings are modest, though we only have one month to compare.

I have tried 5 different units over 8 yeasrs (two being this one). Only one worked 1/2 way decent, and it still has problems.

This one is the most powerful 110volt portable unit there is.

In general, they all end up leaking water all over the place. None of them seem to be able to evaporate the water as fast they are supposed to. By winter, I can expect the units to leak water everywhere, and the water light never comes on.

All 5 brands are cheaply made and by the same factory even though they are from different manufacturers.

If you are looking for portable AC. Better to skip it as you'll be lucky if you find a unit that satifies your needs. IF you are insistant, go with a better built unit. Google around for a unit built in the US, most likely it will be designed for server room cooling. Most likely that will run $1000-$3000.

I am on my 5th unit and wish we had just spent the money up front instead of having to replace the unit every year as we are doing now.

These units are generally cheap and you get what you pay for. I would rate this higher if not for the water issue (I just cleared an 1/8 inch of standing water out of a 12 x 12 room).

as a result of doing major home renovations for the last 6 months, i ended up spending quite a bit of time researching all the products and appliances i had to install... so hopefully this will save you some time and headache.i ultimately needed two bathroom fans with heaters for one medium sized full bathroom, and a small half bathroom in my DC rowhouse.and since the bathroom fans had to be installed inside my ceiling, i wanted to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that i didnt have to EVER dig back into my ceiling drywalls to repair or replace.

well, after weeks of agonizing and reading review after review on site after site, i settled on a Panasonic FV-11VH2 WhisperWarm for the full bath, and am SOOOOO happy i did.it was definitely rated for a larger bathroom than mine, and is slightly more expensive than i wanted, but is SUPER quiet (both heat and fan), unintrusive, and does the jobs perfectly.just note that the heat isnt mindblowing, but does a great job if you live in an older house without central like mine, and there's no heat at all in the bathrooms.... a great help while soaking in the bathtub, also if you turn the heat on 15 mins or so earlier on cold mornings with the door closed before going in to brushing your teeth or showering in the am.im so glad i bought it, and wish i bought two! [truth be told, my electrician claimed that the Panasonics were the best from the start, but im still skeptical by nature so i researched extensively anyways. save yourself the trouble.]

for the smaller half bathroom, i regret deciding to spend less, and expect less.my rationale was that the bathroom was so small, was only a half bath, and i wasnt planning on really spending any time in there.however, i did want a heater because it's on a cold wall and FREEZING in the winter.anyways, after reading a ton about lower priced models for smaller bathrooms, i bought this "Broan 655 Heater and Heater Bath Fan with Light Combination" and am SUPER disappointed.it's SUPER LOUD and vibrates like CRAZY in the ceiling both in fan mode as well as heat mode as well as both modes.it does work and does get rid of the stink though, and has a heater as well, though it doesnt really put out much at all (lame even in this super small half bath).i suppose it's better than nothing....Don't be fooled by the high Amazon.com Sales Rank like i was!spend a bit more and get a better unit.you wont be sorry.

[NOTE- im just a homeowner, do not work for either company, and ive posted this same review on both the Panasonic item i bought as well as this one.]

The last tankless heater I'd ever buy is EZ Tankless Outdoor. If you don'twant cold water all of sudden in the middle of a warm and fuzzy shower, just stay away from EZ Tankless and get some other better and established brands! The brand new EZ Tankless Outdoor unit installed at my property was a total disaster. The hot water ran for 3-5 min and then turned cold and never turned hot again.I called the support for help and followed their suggestions, but got little improvements.I then got my plumber over and followed his suggestion to repipe the entire house to insure the water pressure was not a problem. The job cost me $3500!!!It did improve the situation somewhat:Instead of 3-5 min of hot water, it sustained for ~8-10min, but then again, in the middle of a warm shower, the water turned cold !!! Finally, I had to ditch the EZ Tankless and bought a different, reputable brand for replacement. The nightmare was finally over, but at a cost of $4500.What a waste!!!

These seem to be a well built water heater with the only problem being the temperature rise per GPM is grossly overstated. These are rated as a 25KW heater buy their maker, Vanward of China. This means they have about an 85000 BTU input with a 75000 BTU output. What this means is they actually will only give you 3.3 GPM at a 45° rise.

I would not recommend these for anyone needing to run more then one faucet at a time and would not recommend them for anyone living in colder climate.

These are priced right and the direct venting is a plus, it is unfortunate they are being misrepresented.

Product Description:
The EZ Tankless DELUXE is a proven high efficiency and reliable tankless water heater. Enjoy the comfort of being able to run 2 showers at the same time - ALL DAY LONG !! Never run out of hot water again. The EZ Deluxe is an excellent choice for a family's hot water needs.Take the time to search the internet for other Direct Vent models and you will find that the only other direct vent models offered range in price from $800 to $1,400. Compare that to our model priced at $495. That is about $300 in savings compared to our closest competitor. Also included with your tankless water heater is the Direct Vent Exhaust kit. This is almost never included by other retailers, instead they would rather charge you for something so necessary for the installation and usage of a tankless water heater. A savings of $149. What is Direct Vent and why is it better than Power Vent?Modern sealed dual-chamber (Concentric) Direct Vent forced air intake and exhaust pipe (flue). The exterior of the sealed double chamber stainless steel "flue" pipe system is for the arrival of intake or combustion air.The interior chamber is the forced air exhaust. With this advanced feature, the exterior surfaces of the flue are cooled by the incoming combustion airflow. In addition to a much cooler flue pipe exterior, the intake air is taken from outside the home. This method eliminates the potential for back draft of your furnace or gas dryer, as well as preventing escape of furnace supplied heating or air conditioning which can be drawn out of the home by tankless heaters which use "POWER VENT" designs.
